Massage

MessageThere is nothing like a massage to refresh your body and spirit. It softens muscles and soothes the nerves. overcoming everyday stress and body strains. Regular massage treatments are an excellent investment in your health. Some of the benefits of regular massage include: Increased Circulation and encourages blood and therefore oxygen and nutrient circulation around the body. This assists the work of the heart and lungs, and stimulates the body’s defence mechanisms. It also stimulates the release of toxins and other waste products from the body. Massage therapy can prevent and relieve pain experienced through the lack of use or overuse of muscle groups such as repetitive strain injury and back pain. Massage relieves muscular tension, stiffness and spasm. It can also help to improve posture and joint flexibility. Massage calms and slows the heartbeat, lowers the blood pressure and brings a sense of balance and equilibrium to the body. Massage also improves psychological health. Studies show massage reduces feelings of stress and anxiety, and enhances feelings of well-being.

Deep Tissue Massage

A massage technique that works on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Similar to Swedish massage, deep tissue massage uses slower and firmer strokes and pressure than other treatments - deep finger pressure that concentrates on particular areas, and follows or goes across the fibres of muscles and tendons. Deep tissue massage is a particularly effective massage for people with muscular pain. Deep tissue massage helps to refresh and relax muscles, increasing the blood flow and therefore the oxygen flow around your body. This gets rid of toxins in very sore and strained muscles, which helps them to strengthen and heal.

Deep Tissue massages loosen fibres of the muscle whilst releasing deeply-held patterns of tension. They help to remove toxins whilst relaxing and soothing the muscle. It is both corrective and therapeutic. By using slower strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction across the grain of the muscle, a deeper level of stimulation is achieved when needed. It also helps to break up and eliminate knotted tissues. As it focuses on more specific areas it may cause some soreness during or right after the massage, which will feel better within a day or two.

Deep Tissue massages feel good and are beneficial to your health. When muscles are stressed they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up as toxins in the muscle tissue. The massage loosens the muscle, releases toxins and gets blood and oxygen circulating more efficiently. It is important to drink plenty of water after a deep tissue massage to help drain these toxins from your body.

Indian Head Massage

apressure1Indian Head Massage, originates, as its name suggests, in the East and works on both physical and mental states. Indian Head Massage is a wonderfully relaxing treatment given to you whilst you are sat in a chair – a therapy that has been practised in India for over a thousand years. It is ideal for any neck or shoulder tension as it works deeply over the muscles in this area and also pressure points which help the muscle to relax.

It focuses on the upper body, back, shoulders, neck and head – the areas most vulnerable to stress and tension. It is beneficial for de-stressing the whole body. It disperses toxins from tense and knotted muscles, improves blood-circulation in previously congested muscles, and helps oxygenate the brain. It can, in some cases, also help with eye-strain, tinnitus, jaw ache, sinusitis, stimulates lymphatic drainage and aids sleep. Indian Head Massage induces state of calm, peace and tranquillity and promotes high levels of alertness and concentration. The Neck and Shoulder Massage is followed by a Reviving Scalp Massage which relaxes and stimulates - working over the whole scalp - encouraging your circulation to move to this area bringing with it oxygen and nutrients to revive the brain and help stimulate hair growth.

It finishes with a Soothing Face Massage which works using pressure points and draining techniques which has helped headaches and sinus problems.

thumb_reflexology2Reflexology`s increasing popularity worldwide is due to its extraordinary effectiveness in maintaining good health as well as relieving all forms of physical and mental discomfort. Its far-reaching effects stem from the deep state of relaxation; it creates space for the mind, body and soul to heal themselves. Reflexology is a Holistic or complimentary therapy. It is a drug free form of natural healing. The treatment involves massage to reflex points of your feet. The aim is to improve your well being.

As reflexologists, we believe that there are reflex points on your feet that are linked by energy pathways and zones to every part of your body. This means that a treatment on your feet is also treating your whole body.

It can help with a wide range of disorders, although it is not a magical 'cure all' treatment, most people who have reflexology do find that they benefit to some degree, whether it be that their symptoms have lessened, their pain is relieved, or they generally feel much better in themselves. It is also a great stress reliever. 75% of today’s illness are related to or worsened by stress. Reflexology brings about mental relaxation and physically reduces stress by balancing hormones, and improving the efficiency of the organs in your body.

During the treatment you will only be asked to remove your shoes and socks.

You will then be asked to lie on the couch where the treatment will begin. The whole session lasts approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Please allow some extra time on your first visit as we need to complete some documentation regarding your health. Please note that in the case of some medical conditions it may be necessary to obtain a consent letter from your doctor.
